Access to the Cirque de Navacelles from the Belvederes

Beware : the Grand Site is situated in a mountainous zone, so remember to wear good walking shoes, and to always carry water, sun cream, a cap or sun hat, and to have a map handy. The water of the Vis is around 14 degrees celcius in the summer, so don’t jump straight in ! Protect small children.

 

ON FOOT : (see the downloadable documents or consult a map or an IGN map, see the link below)

There are different options to reach the hamlet of Navacelles :

  • Starting from the Blandas belvederes, three tracks that last between one and three hours (outward journey).
  • Leaving from the Baume Auriol belvedere, there is an hour-long track. (outward journey)
  • Leaving Vissec, there is a three hour long botanical walk, that goes above the Foux Mills. (outward journey)
  • Leaving Saint-Maurice-Navacelles, there is a three hour long track (GR7). (outward journey)

During the summer season, it is possible to take a shuttle bus back up to the Blandas belvederes (see the timetable below).

IN A SHUTTLE BUS : “AVOID TRAFFIC JAMS AND GO STRAIGHT TO THE HEART OF THE CIRQUE DE NAVACELLES”

Between 13 July and 16 August, starting from Le Vigan and the Blandas panoramic viewpoint*, flyer navettetake advantage of the shuttle bus and leisurely admire the limestone landscapes, the gorges of the Vis and the Cirque de Navacelles.

(* Daily connections from Nimes and Montpellier to Le Vigan with the D40 Edgar bus and 108 Hérault transport bus.)

In summer, during the peak season, a shuttle bus service is in place. It leaves from the Blandas belvederes and goes right down to the hamlet of Navacelles :

  • First stop at the moulins de la Foux parking
  • Second stop at the submersible bridge
  • Third stop at  Navacelles

THE ECO VOLUNTEERS :

Teams of eco-volounteers welcome you during the summer season in the hamlet of Navacelles.

Free guided tours are offered to those who wish to get to know the Grand Site de Navacelles and its cultural heritage better.

These teams are put together by the mixed collective of the Grand Site of the Cirque de Navcelles, in partnership with the CPIE of the Causses Méridionaux, the « Eco-gardes » of the « Conseil Général » of the Gard and EDF.
